Running Performance Testing Campaigns
Why run a test campaign?
Test campaigns are essential for the following reasons:
Build Trust in Your Ad Products
Running test campaigns helps build trust by providing advertisers with reliable performance data before they invest. These campaigns allow you to demonstrate the value of your ad products with real results.
Compare and Validate Performance Data
Test campaigns allow you to compare AdControl performance data with other tools like Google Analytics. This helps you identify discrepancies or issues early and improve tracking accuracy.
Optimize Ad Products and Pricing
Insights from test campaigns help you refine your ad product settings and pricing strategies. They allow you to create more competitive and effective offerings based on real performance data.
Note: Test campaigns go beyond basic system checks—they play a critical role in establishing a successful advertising business.
How to Run a Test Campaign
Test campaigns should be operated following the steps and precautions below.
For detailed instructions on running test campaigns in the actual console, please refer to this guide.
Register Units and Complete SDK Integration Register all your ad units in the AdControl console and complete the SDK integration. Ensure the environment is ready to collect real user performance data. We recommend running test campaigns after your app has been published on the Play Store or App Store and has reached at least 90% of your users. This ensures accurate performance tracking.
What is an Advertising Account?
An advertising account is an account through which you can book campaigns.
In the AdControl console, you can manage received bookings and also book campaigns. To book a campaign, you need to create an advertising account first.
You can create an advertising account as follows:
Go to Settings > Ad Platform > View My Ad Platform.
When you click, an advertiser platform window will open.
Fill advertiser name and add URL of the advertiser. Then, click "Create an Ad Account."
For more information, please refer to this link.
4. Creating and Running a Test Campaign
Run all registered units in the console as either in-house campaigns or CPP products for at least one week.
Refer to the In-House Campaign Operation Guide for detailed instructions.
To get meaningful results, set up and operate the test campaign just like a real campaign. Make sure to register all required creatives and run the test under the same conditions as an actual campaign.
While running the test campaign, prepare an Ad Product Brief that includes the following:
Overview of the app service, including MAU, DAU, average user session time, and service 1P data
Age distribution and gender distribution
Advertising placements overview
Examples of past campaign executions (references)
Creative production guidelines
For more examples, please refer to the ad product briefs of media partners registered in adnote, https://adrop.io/adnote.
If you are on the Stream plan in AdControl, ad delivery will be limited after 10,000 impressions, which may affect smooth testing. We recommend upgrading your plan to Wave for better testing performance.

Collecting and Inputting Performance Data
Once you have gathered data from your in-house campaign, enter meaningful performance data into the actual ad products you plan to sell. Creating an Ad Product When entering the estimated daily impressions for your ad product, use the average values collected from your test campaigns.
Recruiting Free and Promotional Test Advertisers
If you’re just starting your ad business, running free or promotional ads to build references is highly recommended.
Updating these references in your ad product brief will greatly support your sales efforts.
After completing your in-house test campaign and creating your ad products for sale, we suggest running free or promotional ads for 1 week to 1 month.
If you need help recruiting free or promotional advertisers, please contact us at [email protected].
Performance Data Analysis and Product Optimization
Analyze the results from your test campaigns to optimize your ad products and pricing. If needed, we offer consulting through additional meetings to help you refine your strategy.
Update your ad product brief based on the performance data collected. Be sure to reflect the latest data in your existing product documentation.
5. Issue Review and Adjustment
Review any technical issues or ad setup problems encountered during the test campaign and work on improvements.
If necessary, run additional test campaigns to verify that the changes have resolved the issues.
