Setting Up Ad Unit Sets in an Ad Product

What is an Ad Unit Set?

An ad product can include several ad units.

When creating an ad product, you'll need to group your ad units into what's called a "unit set." A unit set is basically a group of ad placements (units) that have the same format and size.

This helps advertisers upload their creatives more easily — they just need to upload one creative per set, instead of one for each unit.

A few things to remember:

  • You must assign unit sets before saving the ad product.

  • The unit set name will be shown to advertisers, so give it a clear name like “Main Banner” or “Popup Ads.”

  • If multiple ad units have the same format and size, they'll be grouped into one unit set automatically.

  • If you want different creatives for different units (even if they’re the same size), you can split them into separate sets.

Setting Up Ad Unit Sets

When creating an ad product in the console, you can set up unit sets.

  1. First, click 'Create Ad Product' and after filling product information, select the ad units you want to include in the product.

  1. Then click Next to move to the Unit Set step.

  2. By default, unit sets are grouped based on format × size (e.g., Banner 320×50).

  • If the ad units have the same format and size, they’ll be automatically grouped into one unit set and will share the same creative.

  • If the size is different, even with the same format, they’ll be split into separate unit sets, and each will need its own creative. That means that for each ad unit in a different size even if the format is the same, you have to prepare and upload a separate ad design, called creative.

This ensures creatives are properly matched to each unit’s layout.

Unit Set Name: This name is shown to advertisers. Advertisers use the unit set name to know where to upload their creatives. Please give the unit set a clear name so advertisers can easily identify which ad placements their creatives belong to.

If you don’t want to separate creatives, you can skip this step and create the ad product as is. You can always edit it later.

Utiliizing unit sets

1. Use One Creative for All Units

Even if the ad unit names are different(for example: Home screen banner, Detail page banner, etc.), as long as they have the same size and same format, you can group them so the advertiser only needs to upload one creative. → Just create a unit set that includes those units.

2. Use Different Creatives for Each Unit

If the ad units have the same size and format, the system (AdControl) will group them into one unit set by default. However, to improve user experience or reduce repetitive exposure, you can choose to separate the units and receive a different creative for each one.

If you want to add new units or haven’t assigned a unit set: You cannot save the ad product without assigning a unit set. Whenever you make changes to units, be sure to assign them to a unit set before saving the ad product.
